NEIL DENIS INTERVIEW

Hello Neil, and welcome to Galaxy of Stars.

1.      Your career to-date has mainly focused on acting and voice-overs, have you ever considered directing, producing or writing for TV/Film?

Of course. I love the film and television industry for the very reason that I learn something new everyday on set. I'd love to be able to edit as I'm sure the ability would benefit my acting. Directing is a totally different deal, definitely something I am interested in doing, but something I want to approach with the utmost confidence and understanding before I attempt it.

2.      I understand that you enjoy paint-balling and snowboarding. Do you still get much opportunity to do these things in your spare time? Are there other sports that you enjoy?

As much as I can. Snowboarding was my first love in terms of extreme sports, and to this day you can probably catch me carving it up on whistler mountain. Paintballing is something I do for the intense work out I get and adrenaline rush. Recently I had the opportunity to learn to surf, and windsurf, two things I immediately fell in love with. Also on September 20th this year I'll be learning to sky dive which is something I've always wanted to do. Wish me luck lol

3.      After your first appearance in Stargate SG-1 in Season 1 in 1997, did you ever imagine that you would still be asked to come back (over the years) 8 years later in Season 8?

I was told by my agent that the role could be recurring, and Chris Judge and I are good friends, so when ever he can he tries to write me in. Thanx Chris.

4.      If there were to be another Stargate spin-off based on the Jaffa’s fight for freedom, would you be interested in appearing in it as either a recurring star or a main cast member?

Absolutely.

5.      Have you been watching SG-1 since your episodes to see what is developing?

Of course! I watch Stargate and I end up becoming fully involved in the story. Even when my character is no where to be found. It's some seriously good TV.

6.      Is there any chance that you may return to SG-1 or appear in Atlantis?

Hopefully. As far as future plot lines if and when Ry'ac is written into an episode I am only notified a week or so prior to filming.

7.      Have you got any future projects lined-up that you’d like to share with us?

I've got a few tricks up my sleeve.....don't touch that dial.

8.      You’ve also had appearances in shows such as The X-Files, The Sentinel and First Wave, what is it like to be a guest star on a show where everyone already knows each other and you have to fit in? Do you get to work much with the main casts?

well its a little off kilter the first few days, but as u assign names to faces everything falls into place. There's this magical moment when all of a sudden you are completely comfortable and you just totally relax and fall into your groove. It's a cool moment and it usually happens in the middle of a take or rehearsal. This change is not only noticeable to me but to all who are watching.

9.      What is your favourite genre, and who would you most like to work with on-screen and/or behind the scenes on that genre?

Drama is my favourite genre, and I would have to say my top three actors to work with within dramatic parameters would be: Al Pacino, Robert Redford, and Morgan Freeman.

10.      Have you ever done any Theatre performances? If not, is it something you would be interested it?

Yes I love the theatre it's a different freedom from acting for film. Different restraints as well.

11.      Do you ever get recognised much when you are out in public?

Sometimes. mostly young children who I find are the most observant members of our society.

12.      When you attended your very first Convention, what was your reaction to the whole event and the fans? Was it what you expected?

I had a blast. It could be said that at SG-8 I had almost too much fun. I won't go into all the details but there were lightsabre fights, too much tequila and my own brand of disco fever on the dance floor. The talks with the fans were exceedingly fun and the calibre of questions were quite something. To be sure there were no laymen in the audience. In fact my biggest fear was not being able to answer a question. My second biggest fear was having no questions to answer at all. So make sure you all get some good questions to ask me a SG10

13.      Are you a big internet user? Do you ever browse for any fans sites about you or the shows that you have appeared on?

I am a big websurfer but I almost never look myself up. That would be too egotistical (notice I said almost LOL)

14.      Do you have a list of the top 5 or 10 things you would love to achieve? If so, are there any you would like to share with us?

Hmm good question. Number one if I can say that in my life I made as many people happy as I could, I would be content. Then I'd like to climb Everest. I'd also like to BASE jump off angel falls of the peaks of Baffin Island. I'd better start training eh?

15.      Finally, what would you say to someone if you were trying to convince them to join Galaxy of Stars and have the opportunity to chat to the stars such as yourself?

I'd tell them to check out the site the concept speaks for itself.

Thank you very much Neil for taking the time to answer my questions. I wish you all the best in your future.
